GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF THE ANTONIAN PARENT ASSOCIATION
Over a four year period, we propose to have the Antonian Parent Association assist in the development of support structures where parents can be involved in the education and formation of their children. This (not so) novel idea asserts parents as primary educators of their children. Thus, several commitments which become inherent by enrolling a student at Antonian are:
An understanding that home and school must work in concert with one another in the formation of their children, our students.
An understanding that loyalty unifies home and school.
An understanding that liberty and responsibility go hand in hand in the development of character in children. We cannot have one without the other.
A commitment to parent participation in the activities of the school, especially those which are formative and spiritual.
Participation in the meetings of the organization.
Participation in gatherings of parents throughout the school year where topics of Spirituality and Formation will be presented.
In order to assist with the above commitments, we have formed – The Antonian Parent Association - to organize the relationship between home and school, parents, students and teachers, differently. If we are to promote parents as primary educators, we will need to develop a relationship where parents can be at the forefront of their children’s education, what you will come to know as being Parents in the Front Line.
We will invite parents to participate in four sessions per year that have the objective of inviting, sharing, informing and updating them about character formation where students come to know themselves and also begin to examine their sexuality. With these general sessions, parents will be better able to deepen discussions at home about the subjects that their children will be presented at school.
Additionally, we are proposing to have a series of other classes specifically geared at assisting parents with a further understanding about Moral Theology, Virtues and the Role of Virtues in the Lives of Children and the Family. Lastly, we propose classes on the Family, Family Life and How to Understand the Role of the Family in the Modern World.
