Treasurer’s Report: In Cristina’s absence, Lori talked about the 2010-2011 proposed budget. She and Mr. Saenz discussed the change in fees collected this year and that the PTC will receive $5,000 from Antonian this year to add to the approx. $12,000 balance in our account from last year for a total of approx $17,000. A full treasurer’s report will follow next meeting. Lori is planning a second meeting with Mr. Saenz for next Tuesday.

We discussed with Carole that refreshments may be better to have coffee and small bottle waters.
We discussed food options for the Staff luncheons/Birthday Treats. Many teachers are eating healthier now and seem to prefer salads, fruit and wraps (instead of lots of bread). Lori mentioned that the class retreats are more than likely to be held at Antonian this year which will make catering arrangements much easier. April 2010 Minutes
Meeting was held at ACP in the Student Center on April 14, 2010 in the Student Center at 11:30 a.m.
Attendance: Lesli McBride, Cathy Villanueva, Cristina Johnson, Christi Forestier, Debbie Heintzelman, Carole Palmer, Art Hanna, Karin Wynn, John Duke Butler and Gayle and Bob Modrovsky. Lesli McBride called the meeting to order. Lesli opened with prayer.
Approval of Minutes: The minutes were read by Karin and no changes were made. The minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s Report: Cristina submitted the PTC Budget/Expense Report. Our balance is $4,880.94. We exceeded our Lunches budget by $304.74. We talked about what items were over budgeted and what we can do to balance or just budget more for next year. Also discussed was the purchase of more tables and chairs and how to pay for them. Carol suggested doing a raffle and Cathy suggested the uniform resale profits to cover some of the expense.
Reports from Committees:
Senior Breakfast: Lee Ann sent in her report to Lesli. We will need
more people to help at time of registration.
End of year Staff Luncheon: Art suggested that a BBQ lunch can be
delivered here for the May 25th luncheon (1st day of finals). Leslie
said we need to have nicer tablecloths and silverware than the r
regular lunches; maybe find some catering with silverware.
Debbie suggested we could find good plastic china at Sam’s. Carol
suggested maybe invest in silverware. Leslie said we have some,
maybe 4 doz. and we can purchase some more, but we have to
wash it ourselves. Carol suggested a little more could be spent on
decorations with the theme. John asked if Antonian is affiliated
with the Knights of Columbus – maybe they sale silverware? Or
we can borrow something from them. Cathy suggested maybe
Hu-Hut or Aldaco can lend silverware or they can do the food
also.
Carol will get a contact for Art. It was suggested to use sombreros
as center pieces.
Old Business: Donation for Chapel: Lesli reported that three months ago we approved the purchase of the Tabernacle at a price of $8,000 to $10,000; but the price has changed to $14,050 so we felt that we needed to discuss it. Mr. Saenz said we don’t have to feel obligated to pay all of it; that we are not obligated. A motion was made by Debbie Heintzelman to pay the current price of $14,050.00 to cover the Tabernacle for the new chapel. Carol Palmer seconded the motion and all those present approved it.
Officer/Committee Head Job Description – Lesli reminded that all officers and committee coordinators submit , by email, a complete job description to her by May 1st in order to assist those who will take on the responsibility for next year. She will organize folders for each to hand in notes pertaining to their duties/events.
New Business:
April Birthday/Treats will be provided by the senior class with Cynthia in charge.
May Staff luncheon will be provided by the freshman class on May 7th. Debbie will put someone in charge because of her conflict with the State Track meet. Debbie will check if they are still having it. Leslie recommended that we put a notice with the menu in the teacher lounge and get an idea of how many people will participate.
Senior Breakfast will be May 23rd.
Uniform Swap will be June 2nd from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Cathy reported that we need 4-5 volunteers to help set up during the day. We will need to have rolling clothing racks, nice bags and hangers. She also will need help in advance to sort and wash the uniforms. Leslie suggested organizing volunteers to come in on the half days to sort and tag. Advertising was discussed. Cathy said the previous flyers used need to be retyped with more detailed instructions. The flyer will go to Mrs. Montemayor and put on the website. Leslie suggested a date before the seniors are finished school. Cathy suggested the 1st week of May. The deadline will be Friday, May 28th to drop off clothes. Leslie reminded that we have volunteers who have signed up to help with the uniform resale. The next PTC meeting will be a lunch meeting for our last gathering for the year on May 12th.

Need to tweak the food line organization and the sound system for Mar. 7th Father/Daughter event to run more smoothly. Mr. Saenz said the new wireless microphone has been ordered. Susan D’Ambrosia asked (through Lesli) about the music. Discussion was that there wasn’t but 2 girls there to sing and most people didn’t sing along. Susan spoke about the Basketball Booster Club needing to use tables, chairs and table cloths after the Father/Daughter , Mar. 7th event for their Awards Banquet held in the gym. Tablecloths will need to be cleaned at Cowboy Cleaners and bill will be split between PTC and Basketball Booster Club. We had a lengthy discussion about the need to purchase more tables and chairs. Lesli McBride called the meeting to order. Cynthia Cornejo opened with prayer.
Approval of Minutes: Susan Thomas read the December 2009 minutes and no changes were made. A motion was made by Lori Curran to approve the December 2009 minutes, seconded by Christi Forestier and was approved by all those present.

The balance is $28,255.21 after expenses from December Staff Luncheon (12 Days of Christmas) of $156.83, November Staff Luncheon of $152.15 and the Christmas Staff Luncheon of $965.45. The Junior Retreat expense of $340.00 will show up on next months report.
Reports from Committees: Mother/Son and Father/Daughter events are scheduled for Feb. 7th and Mar. 7th, respectively. Tracey said the decorating committee is doing a mock up of the table dressing on Jan 19th in a Hawaiian Luau theme. Father John will lead the Mass on Feb 7th. They are still working on either Father Clay or others to lead the Mar 7th Mass. The music will be performed by the students with Mr. Kokotajlo. Food and games are all being organized. Chris Crane, a parent from last year, is said to be able to help. Christina showed the invitation and card that will be mailed out tomorrow of which the card will need to be returned by the families including their check for tickets. Tracey said she has sent out 2 phone blast with the Save the Date information. Amount of table and chairs available was discussed. There are 27 tables available which seat at least 10 at each. The room capacity used to be 300 before the new expansion so there should be plenty of space. Lesli suggested having a diagram given to the custodian of the table arrangement in order to save time with set up. Mothers of daughters from the board were asked to help out with the set up so the other mothers with daughters could enjoy the event. Leslie said for Tracey to get the key to the school to open up for Sunday. The length of the games was requested to be shortened from last year to keep the event fun and not too long. Student may come to help set up for service hours.
Marion Moore (Art teacher) arrived to present information from the Art department. She hadn’t been informed that we were moving her presentation (and others) to our March evening meeting. An apology was made and she left.
Old Business: Christmas Luncheon was coordinated by Art and Patty Hanna. Art reported that he received good feedback. Milano’s Restaurant was a little small, however, which made the gift giving a little challenging. The event was less expensive than budgeted. Available transportation would have been nicer except that they declined the offer. Sheila Lopez suggested Amorcita’s Restaurant for next time because they have a large room to use at no cost.
New Business:
Donation for the Chapel was discussed. Mr. Saenz asked that the PTC purchase the Tabernacle for approximately $8-10,000.00 and save the remainder of our available funds. Whether or not to go ahead and vote for a Tabernacle that will be selected in the near future was discussed. A motion was made by Debbie Heintzelman to purchase a Tabernacle approved by Mr. Saenz and donate it to our newly constructed chapel, seconded by Lori Curran and all approved by the rest.
Meeting Times, Program was discussed as we had to make this January meeting which was originally scheduled for 6:30 pm to an 11:30 am meeting due to scheduling conflicts. It was agreed to keep February’s meeting at 11:30 am and March’s meeting to 6:30 pm and have the Fine Art department showcased. It was also discussed to have next year’s September meeting in conjunction with a Ministry Clubs program to showcase all the organizations available to students to those in attendance of that evening meeting.
Website Interaction was discussed as a way to better communicate for the ACP PTC. Debbie asked if there was a way to fill out forms from the internet online so we don’t have as much paperwork to sort when dealing with volunteers. Privacy issues were named as one roadblock and lack of computer skills and understanding was another. It was suggested to ask Mrs. Nagle, the computer teacher for assistance.
January Staff Luncheon will be held this Friday, January 15th and coordinated by the sophomore class and Cathy Villanueva. She has the catering done by Wendy’s with baked potatoes, chili and frosties for dessert. Susan, Christi and Sheila Lopez volunteered to help.

The next PTC meeting will be held in the Library at 11:30 a.m. on February 10th. Meeting was adjourned at 12:36 p.m.

A motion was made by Christi Forestier to approve the November 2009 minutes with the above changes, seconded by Debbie Heintzelman and was approved by all those present.
Treasurer’s Report: Cristina Johnson read the Treasurer’s Report. The balance is $29,529.64 after expenses for gift cards for teachers for Thanksgiving ($1,600.00), Thanksgiving luncheon expense ($85.33), October Birthday/Treats ($34.87), gift cards and stationery cards for counselors ($14.99), and Misc. expense ($71.67). Cost is $10.00 per person not including tax and gratuity or dessert. Those in attendance approved adding dessert and coffee if an additional cost of $3.00 per person can cover the bill. Leslie was going to check on getting a bus for transport as parking is limited there.
Mother/Son and Father/Daughter events are scheduled for Feb. 7th and Mar. 7th, respectively. Tracey Lammert reported that the planning meeting had many in attendance. They are planning to use Zio’s Restaurant for the catering. There will be a decorations meeting on Friday Dec. 11th at noon to decide the theme for decorating. The Mass is being organized. There will be only one invitation mailed to each of the Antonian families with the dates of both events as this will keep the costs down. It was mentioned as a reminder to address those families to attend either event whereby there isn’t a Mother/Son or Father/Daughter relationship (as in single parents, etc.).
Old Business: Thanksgiving Luncheon was held on Nov. 24th. Cathy reported that the volunteering went fairly well. It was helpful to have the name tags for the volunteers since many of them were new parents to the school. The leftover pies were donated to the teachers to take home.
Twelve Days of Christmas was in lieu of the December Luncheon and Birthday/Treats. Cynthia and Debbie reported that it went well except for the power outage. Mr. Saenz restored the power. It was said that next year’s budget needs to include the Twelve Days of Christmas*.
New Business:
January Luncheon has not been assigned to a class so the PTC will be in charge. We discussed what food could be used: Cathy noted that we have a Freshman contact who works for Wendy’s corporate, Tracey has a friend that works for Order Up, Souper Salads can do baked potatoes with fixings and chili was discussed. All were going to check prices and discuss later which to use.

Reports from Committees: Senior Retreat was held at St. Mary’s University – mixed reviews from parents and students – enjoyed the retreat being led by college students; the overall flow of the schedule was challenging as parent volunteers worked extra hard to coordinate food/supplies, etc. It was suggested that Kathy Sisoian, a senior parent who works for St. Mary’s University, could have been helpful with the event but wasn’t asked to be involved (good to know for next time).
Junior Staff Luncheon – the date changed so Lori Curran, the coordinator, brought drinks and snacks in on Wed. October 7th.
October Teacher Treats/Birthdays is coordinated by Christi Forestier (sophomore class).
November Staff Luncheon is scheduled for Nov. 6th and is coordinated by Christi Forestier (sophomore class).
November Teacher Treats/Birthdays is coordinated by Debbie Heintzelman (Freshman class).
Junior Retreat is scheduled for Nov. 12th.
Thanksgiving Luncheon is scheduled for Nov. 24th during all 4 lunches and is coordinated by Cathy Villanueva. All those present were “invited” to be on the planning committee. Volunteers will be needed to collect desserts from parents (starting at 7:30 a.m.), slice pies and organize food/tables and help serve during lunches. Cathy is going to check on the main food items and as to whether the cafeteria staff would be serving or not. It was said that it would be nice this year to have all students/parents in the cafeteria to eat together whether or not they were eating the Thanksgiving meal or their own sack lunch with our newly expanded room (instead of them going to the gym).
December Staff Luncheon* (see note) is scheduled for Dec. 4th and is coordinated by Debbie Heintzelman (Freshman class).
December Teacher Treats/Birthdays*(see note) is coordinated by Cynthia Cornejo (senior class).
Christmas Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 15th and is coordinated by Art and Patty Hanna.
Mother/Son and Father/Daughter events are scheduled for Feb. 7th and Mar. 7th, respectively, and are coordinated by Tracey Lammert.
*Please check with Mr. Saenz for date approval as it is close to 12 Days of Christmas event.
Old Business: Susan Thomas discussed a meeting and decision to purchase red and blue leather lounge furniture approved by Mr. Saenz in coordination with Debbie Gorday, a senior parent, to furnish the Gallery area between the auditorium and the Student Center. PTC funds were not being used for the purchase. Delivery of all the furniture should be next week. Leslie discussed the idea of purchasing video recorders to be held in the library and checked out for classroom use by the students to use on projects. Mr. Bartlett found some for $60.00 each. The request is for 25-30 if possible. A motion was made by Lori Curran to purchase ten (10) video recorders for the school with the gifts to school funds; Christi Forestier seconded and it was approved by all of those present.
New Business: Leslie discussed was the idea of supplying Kleenhanz Sport 500 ct. sanitizing hand wipes for each classroom at Randy Mendoza’s wholesale cost of $13.00 each. We discussed, at length, the cost and effectiveness of the product versus the hand pump gel hand sanitizer. Hand wipes were said to be more effective at eliminating germs for a longer period of time. A motion was made by Debbie Heinzelman to purchase thirty (30) of the Kleenhanz Sport 500 ct. tubs, Steve Ferrari seconded and it was approved by all those present.
The November PTC meeting program was discussed and those present suggested a Health Topic with regards to the N1H1 Virus as well as what Antonian is doing for the health and safety for our students/teachers – back up idea was to host a Science program. Cynthia Cornejo asked what the protocol was for Antonian in regards to the N1H1 virus and whether or not Antonian has a defibulator and people who know how to use it. Those present urged Cynthia to do some research to find out. Steve Ferrari said he would ask what they are doing at the Archdiocese level.
The next PTC meeting will be held Wednesday, November 11th at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center.
Meeting was adjourned at 12:10 p.m.

President’s Report: Copies of the agenda, budget for 2009-2010, Treasurer’s Report and index cards were placed on each table. Everyone introduced themselves and stated what position they currently held on the board and for how long they had held their position and who their children were. A motion was made by Cathy Villanueva to approve the August 2009 minutes, seconded by Christi Forestier and approved by all those present.
Treasurer’s Report: Cristina Johnson stated that the PTC balance is $33,005.75 after the PTC Fees deposit of $12,000.00 less $198.79 for the Back to school dinner and Teacher luncheon expenses.
Old Business: None
New Business:
Approval of 2009-2010 budget is set at $12,000.00. Cathy Villanueva made a motion to approve the 2009-2010 PTC budget as presented, Christi Forestier seconded and all those present approved.

Other Fall Events:

Suggestion Cards were placed on each table for those attending to write any comments or ideas they would like to be considered by the PTC. Leslie stated that the PTC is open to change and new ideas that people may have experienced from other schools or organizations that could benefit the Antonian PTC.
Gifts to School were discussed:
Leslie explained the large sum of money in our account was won by the Antonian PTC in a raffle of a Hummer vehicle (which was sold) several years ago. This money has been earmarked to purchase a specific gift(s) for ACP. One idea was for furniture or furnishings for the new chapel.
Camcorders were mentioned by the teachers as a way to aid in learning.
Susan Thomas explained that Mr. Saenz wants to furnish the newly renovated area between the student center and the auditorium as a place to relax for the students and/or parents. Presently, two TV’s have been installed on the wall. Ideas and/or suggestions of where to find comfortable, attractive, long-lasting furniture to use in this space were requested. There is no budget for the project, so a fundraiser could be used.
The next PTC meeting will be held Wednesday, October 14th at 11:30 a.m. in the school library.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
August 2009 Minutes
Meeting was held at the home of Leslie McBride August 12th at 10:00 a.m. (started at 10:35 a.m.)
Attendance: Cathy Villanueva, Cristina Johnson, Debbie Heintzelman, Tracey Lammert, Cynthia Cornejo, Lesli McBride, Steve Ferrari, Christi Forestier and Susan Thomas.
President’s Report: Lesli McBride welcomed everyone and opened with prayer. Copies of the Constitution from the Archdiocese, the PTC program for 2009-2010, last year’s budget, this year’s proposed budget, a contact list and a tax exempt form was distributed. Everyone introduced themselves and stated what position they currently held on the board. A few changes were made to the contact list. A note was made to contact Hortenica who is listed as the senior breakfast coordinator to see if she is still interested in the position again this year. Leslie covered the Constitution and voiced that she would like the PTC to strengthen the relationship between home and school; to consider having a motto for the year. In addition, she would also like to strengthen parent/teacher relationships and communication, perhaps inviting a teacher rep. and an administrative rep. to each of our board meetings.
Treasurer’s Report: Cristina Johnson submitted a PTC Budget for 2008-2009 end of year balance sheet and the proposed PTC Budget for 2009-2010. She has not yet received an invoice for the Smart Boards purchased last year. The Uniform Resale(s) have netted over $1200.00.
New Business:
The budget for the 2009-2010 PTC is set at $12,000.00 so the proposed budget distributed was changed by the board to reflect the lesser amount, cutting Back-to-School Teacher Luncheon to $350.00, Incoming Freshman Breakfast to $250.00, and Clubs Wish List and Misc. both to $250.00.
PTC name tags are need for each of the board members and the class parent reps. Susan Thomas offered to contact Debi Canning to order them.
The PTC volunteer form was included in the back-to-school packet sent to the incoming freshman parents, however; it was not included with the returning student and new upper classmen packets. The board discussed sending and email and/or phone blast to inform parents about volunteer opportunities with the PTC.
The PTC Program was discussed. The Back-to-School Teacher Luncheon had not been planned prior to the meeting. Cynthia Cornejo phoned Mrs. Montemayor at the meeting to get the confirmation. Tracey Lammert suggested Jason’s Deli, Debbie Heintzelman offered to pick up food and deliver to school on Friday for the event, Lesli ,and maybe Cathy ,would be able to help at the event. The Teacher’s Monthly Birthday Treat was left off the PTC Program: Lesli suggested a large cake from Costco for the month of August. Upcoming volunteers are needed for Freshman Retreat lunches on Sept. 17th and Sophomore Retreat on Sept. 24th; class parent reps are best suited to coordinate for their individual class. An email and/or phone blast will be used to ask for donations from parents of each class for fruit and drinks. It was discussed that the parents contact the class parent rep. as to what they are donating. A few new ideas were discussed for the Faculty Lunches. Mr. Saenz needs to be contacted before each faculty lunch is planned to make sure it is still scheduled. The Faculty End of Year Luncheon date was changed to May 25th. Volunteers will be needed for the Eighth grade tours in October; check with Mrs. Montemayor for details. Discussed whether or not refreshments and cookies were needed.
Father Mark’s position has not been filled so Antonian will have visiting priests to lead Mass each week.
A Reverse Auction was discussed by Cathy Villanueva. She has invited Mr. Saenz to her relative’s church this Saturday (Aug. 15th) for their Reverse Auction so he can witness a fundraising opportunity that could be held at Antonian, perhaps to raise money for new furnishings for our new Chapel being built.
Ideas for future PTC Evening Meetings were discussed. Ideas included: Introducing the counselors and having each talk about themselves, A Science and/or Math night with highlights from the teachers, A Clubs night with highlights from the different club organizations and a Fine Arts night with highlights from the different fine arts subjects.
Freshman Potluck was discussed and the Returning Parent Potluck was planned for the following evening at 6:30. Volunteers need to be at Antonian at 5:30 to set up. It was suggested that we have volunteers take the food from the parents upon arrival to the kitchen before they sign in to make it easier on the parents. PTC volunteer forms need to be distributed to parents as they arrive.
Meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.

Program – Mr. Hayward introduced and demonstrated the “I-Clicker”. 2 units were ordered and purchased before Christmas and arrived on January 6th. These items were purchased for the school from PTC as our gift to them (the teachers) in lieu of our usual $$ gift at Christmas.
This device is a quick way for teachers to survey their class, it is anonymous and you get immediate feedback.
Quizdom was researched three years ago – and it is somewhat cumbersome and has more features. It is more difficult to use and pricey…
Mr. Hayward suggested this as a pilot….it is very user friendly – every teacher can become an expert
Any presentation software can be used - do not need to know as separate (I clicker format)
Can link to students – who answered what/teacher) Less expensive and more portable.
Every student can purchase own remote for about $20.00 and keep it for all 4 years.
Mr. Hayward gave us a demonstration and gave each of us a remote so we could participate in answering some questions. It was very user friendly. Hopefully all can use by next year.
After learning about the use of the i-clicker he went over what “Essential Questions” at Antonian are all about.
They started 4 years ago. Has a backward design concept…Has to do with the curriculum…What do I want my students to know by the end of the year? That is the most important
Questions are on every syllabus – you can pick a question to do...will have a formal 2 week window to write on it...
They will begin mid February and will continue for a 6 week span
Theology will be due before Spring Break
English when we return from Spring Break
Social Studies in about 4 weeks and Science ?
Will use higher level skills when answering essential question: Analysis Synthesis Evaluation
Count as 2 test grades /750-1000 words (2 to 4 pages)
Not research papers!

Change of dates: Mother /Son – February 8th

Also, need to set up mini meeting to discuss particulars
Discussed if we could include the masses we have at the above lunches as one of the new monthly masses that Antonian will be having to get the community together . All agreed that this would be fine…those not attending luncheon would not stay for luncheon on these two dates
Larry Briesel – President of the School Council - Requested funds from PTC to help out the Antonian families with tuition
55 students in financial difficulty
Discussed that PTC does not really have enough funds to date to give without putting in jeopardy our plans to contribute to the teachers and their classroom needs.
Totally open to having a fundraiser for this purpose only….can combine with all 3 committees (Booster, PTC, APA) Can plan on doing this in the spring or definitely include it in next years activities/events
After discussion and listening to ideas pro and con; Lee Ann moved to vote "No" on giving money at this time, due to budgeted funds for classroom & teacher necessities. Will reconsider after full disclosure of notification of our PTC fees for next year.
Kathy Villanueva seconded the motion…All attended approved
