Leap Leadership Program: www.LEAPfoundation.com Deadline is June 1, 2010, however space limited. Contact information: 310-845-8507 or 877-855-5327. Entering sophomores, juniors and seniors. Call to find out if there is any more space before you fill out the Application. Applications are in the counseling office. This program provides assitance with your career path, improve effective communication skills, study less and make better grades, identify your strenghts achieve financial independence, establish long life friendships and create a positive self-image with confident self-talk, etc. Location: UCLA, Dates: August 9-14, 2010 Cost: 2,495. FYI : Leap has a Young Adult Leadership Program for (ages 18-24; entering college- recent graduates).
Sophomores and Juniors: Pre-College Programs at the University of Notre Dame. Deadline is March 10, 2010. Summer Scholars is an intensive two-week course of study. Tuition and Housing is 2,500. United States Military Academy will host two sessions of the 35th Annual Summer Leaders Seminar in 2010. The first session is scheduled for May 29- June 4, and the second session will be June 5-11. Students must be in the Top fifth of thier high school class, pursue a college- preparatory curriculum and have stong PSAT scores. Applicants will perform a minimum of 6 hours of laboratory work per week during the months of June and July. Recipients of the scholarship will receive a total of $900.00 over the two months period. Sophomores and Juniors: University of Texas at Austin-MITE: Introduction to Engineering 2009. Deadline- Applications must be postmarked By April 1, 2010. www.engr.utexas.edu/eoe/precollege/mite. It is a five day program that presents high school sophomors and juniors with the opportunity to discover the exciting world of engineering through hands-on-experiences and interaction with engineering students faculty, staff and alumni from the Cockrell School of Engineering. University of Texas at Austin: The Summer Academy in Architecture Deadline to Apply is April 12, 2010. Program dates are June 8 -July 10, 2009. Clemson University: Deadline: May 1, 2010 Summer Science, Engineering and Arctiecture Enrichment Program. Requirements a letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor or school principal, transcript and PSAT,SAT or ACT scores. Fee schedule One-Week session $850.00, Architecture (two weeks) $1,900, Landscape Architecture $900.00. Johnson and Wales University: Career Explorations- Culinary Camp 2010 .This week long program is for students who are entering their junior or senior year.( High School Sophomores may be be acceted to the program on a space -available basis). Cost:Baking and Pastry Arts Camp is $195.00. Culinary Camp (North Miami campus only) is $495.00 all other programs are $95.00. Meals and housing in included. There is a fly-in option. Texas Lutheran University: The Lonestar Scholars Academy is a two-week residential program that offers university-level coursework for transferable college credit. Requirements: Must have taken the PSAT and rank in the top half of the class and receive a strong recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor. Must have completed your freshmen year in high school. LSSA student will participate in two-college-level courses taught by select TLU faculty and area educators. Tuition, room, board, books, and all associated activityfees and materials costs are included in the price of $1,495. a$100.00 deposit, must accompany your application. the remaining $1,395 balance is due by July 13, Need-based financial aid ranging from $300.00 to $6.00.00 per session is available. University of Virginia: This program is for 9th through 12 th students. Summer Student Academy programs run Sunday through Friday the weeks of June 7, June 14, and June 21. The base price for those weeks is $1249, which includes hotel accommodations in DC, all student meals, 24-hour security/supervision, tips/gratuities, in-town transportation, etc. Students would need to make their own arrangements to get to/from Washington. We also have a special 4th of July Program which runs from July 2-7. That price is $1399. San Antonio Prefreshman Engineering PREP 2010: Criteria: Must be in 6 through 10 grade. When: June 14- July 31, 5 to 6 hours a day. Where: UTSA ( Main and Downtown campuses) and at the Alamo Junior Colleges in San Antonio.Cost: $300.00. The student must have an 85 average in Mathematics, Science, and English. UT Health Science Center: Voelcker Biomedical Research Academy will partner the very best raising sophomores, from a broad array of San Antonio school districts with outstanding biomedical scientists from UT Health Science over their high school career to promote excellence in scholarship and biomedical research training. Who: Freshman students, When: June 16- July 30,2010, 5 to 8 hours a day. Where: The University of Texas Health Sience Center at San Antonio, 7700 Floyd Curl Drive. Compensation: It is a Full time commitment and will require a considerable effort from each participant. A Voelcker Student will be given to a student of 1,000. Requirements: 90 in mathematics, science and English. Deadline: Students must provide a completed application form including a personal essay, letters of recommendation from two teachers, including 1 science teacher, and official high school grade transcripts. Texas A&M University: Veterinary Enrichment Camp: Dates: July 13-16 or July 20-23, 2010. Criteria: An applicant should have one of the following experiences completed: 1. Have 24 work or service hours under the supervision of a veterinarian in a clinical or research setting. 2. If and only if , your local veterinary does not hire minors or allow monors to shadow, have 48 service hours of formalized animal experience including service in FFA, 4-H, a working (income generating) farm/ranch, a kennel, an animal shelter, raising show animals or other.
